A 34-year-old man from Pacifica has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing outside a bar in Half Moon Bay left one man seriously injured, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called to the San Benito House in the 300 block of Main Street at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday following reports of a fight outside the establishment. When they arrived, they found a 31-year-old man with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in a stable condition.

Deputies nearby spotted a suspicious man, later identified as Ricardo Raya of Pacifica, fleeing the area and throwing away a knife, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies caught up with Raya and recovered the weapon.

Authorities said both the suspect and the victim are believed to be involved in gang-related activities. The sheriff’s office Gang Intelligence Unit assisted with the investigation.

Raya was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of attempted murder and participating in a criminal street gang.

The sheriff’s office said preliminary information indicates the attack was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
