A 32-year-old man was killed early Monday morning when he was struck by an SUV that fled the scene in North Hollywood, Los Angeles police said.

The crash was reported at about 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of Lankershim Boulevard and Sherman Way, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Ricardo Solis. His place of residence was not immediately available.

Police said the SUV, described as possibly a yellow Jeep Wrangler, was traveling eastbound on Sherman Way when it struck Solis, who was outside of a crosswalk. The driver did not stop and the SUV was last seen heading east on Sherman Way toward Lankershim Boulevard.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced Solis dead at the scene.

Detectives with the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division are asking anyone who saw the crash, or who was driving east on Sherman Way near Lankershim Boulevard at the time, to come forward. Tips can be directed to Officer Lozon at 818-644-8117 or Officer Reyes at 818-644-8114.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available for information leading to the driver’s identification, apprehension and conviction, or resolution through a civil compromise.
