A 25-year-old man from Manitowoc died on Sunday after his car left the road and overturned at an intersection in the town of Newton, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office said.
A sheriff’s deputy came across the crash at about 5:32 p.m. on October 18 at State 42 and County C. Investigators said the crash had happened only a short time before the deputy arrived.
A preliminary investigation found that the man was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu east on County C when the car left the roadway and entered a ditch. The car then overturned and came to rest in the intersection.
The driver was the only person in the car and was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures at the scene, but he was pronounced dead.
Authorities did not release the man’s name. The crash remains under investigation, and the sheriff’s office said no additional information was available.
The Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter first reported the crash.
