Two people were injured on Sunday morning after a pickup truck towing a trailer rolled over on US20 just west of Idaho Falls, according to the Idaho State Police.
The crash happened at about 10:11 a.m. at milepost 295 on eastbound US20 in Bonneville County. The Idaho State Police said a 2020 GMC Sierra pulling a single-axle trailer was traveling eastbound when the trailer began to swerve and crossed into the westbound lanes.
The driver tried to regain control and steered back into the eastbound lanes, but the GMC rolled into the embankment and came to rest on its cab.
The driver, a 65-year-old man, and his passenger, a 75-year-old woman, were both from Rapid City, South Dakota. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and were taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The highway was blocked in both directions for about half an hour while emergency crews helped those involved. The Idaho State Police was assisted at the scene by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, the Idaho Falls Fire Department and Idaho Falls paramedics.
The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
