One person was critically injured and another was hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash with a rollover and an ejection on the northbound I-15 on-ramp at 600 North in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened around 3:12 p.m. local time (MDT) on Oct. 18, 2026. Multiple vehicles were involved, and one vehicle rolled over. One occupant was ejected from the vehicle, according to SLCScanner reporting. The cause of the crash and other preliminary details remain unknown.

Two people were taken to the hospital. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Luis Silva said one victim, who had been ejected, was critically injured but stable. Another person was described as having life-threatening injuries after the ejection. No fatalities had been reported at the time of the briefing.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers and emergency medical services responded to the scene. UHP was briefing the media around 4:12 p.m. Sgt. Silva said the entire freeway was closed at that time and was expected to stay closed for the next couple of hours. UDOT Traffic issued alerts saying northbound I-15 was completely closed at 600 North, with all traffic exiting there and heavy delays between Salt Lake City and North Salt Lake. Earlier, two of the five northbound lanes had been blocked.

The investigation is ongoing. UHP says further information will be released as available.
