A fatal crash has closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 in St. Louis on Monday afternoon.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said traffic is being diverted off the highway onto Germania Avenue at the Weber exit.
Police have not said how many vehicles were involved, and it remains unclear what led up to the crash. No details about the person who died have been released, and officials have not said whether anyone else was injured.
Accident reconstruction investigators were called to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
