A semitrailer and about five other vehicles collided on Transmountain Road (Loop 375) at North Desert Boulevard in West El Paso on Monday morning, killing one man and injuring nine other people. The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, 2026, near the Interstate 10 overpass, with the emergency call coming in at around 10:33 a.m.

El Paso Police Department spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo confirmed that one man died in the collision, but his identity was not released. A witness at the scene reported seeing people on the ground near vehicles that appeared to be heavily damaged.

The El Paso Fire Department said there were 10 patients at the location. One patient was flown to a hospital by the Fire STAR ambulance helicopter, four were transported to a hospital with the least serious transport code, Code 1, and four people refused transportation.

The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the crash. No cause has been reported, and the investigation continues.

Transmountain Road was closed at the intersection as pieces of metal, plastic and other debris littered the roadway. All westbound lanes of Loop 375 were closed at Exit 11A (Northwestern Drive), and Loop 375 East was closed at the I-10 overpass, according to a Texas Department of Transportation post on X. All lanes of North Desert Boulevard at Transmountain Road were also closed, with traffic diverted onto I-10. The closures remain in effect until further notice.

The El Paso Times first reported the crash, with reporting by Daniel Borunda.
