A 70-year-old school bus driver has been arrested in Dayton, Texas, after his bus struck a child on U.S. Highway 90 at Stilson Road on Friday morning and he drove away from the scene, FOX 26 Houston reported.
The driver was identified as Ricky Eugene Cherry, 70. The crash left the child severely injured.
The incident happened Friday morning, October 16, 2026. Authorities arrested Cherry after the hit-and-run, according to FOX 26 Houston.
The collision took place on U.S. Highway 90 at Stilson Road in Dayton. FOX 26 Houston reported that the driver fled the scene before being taken into custody.
