A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after his wife was shot dead and her teenage son wounded at their home in Victorville, California.
Samuel Alfredo Tomasello was taken into custody after the shooting on Saturday morning at a house in the 14800 block of Hopland Street, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
His wife, 39-year-old Denise Stovall, suffered gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Her 19-year-old son, who was shot in the abdomen, called 911 and told dispatchers that Tomasello had shot both him and his mother, the sheriff’s department said.
Responding deputies ordered everyone inside the home to come out. The young man walked out with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, and Tomasello was detained without incident.
The son was treated for his wound and later released from medical care. After what the sheriff’s department described as an extensive investigation, detectives arrested Tomasello. He was formally booked into custody late on Saturday and is being held without bail. He is due to make an initial court appearance on Tuesday at the Victorville branch of San Bernardino County Superior Court.
