MOORHEAD, Minnesota. A man has died after a fiery single-vehicle crash in south Moorhead on Wednesday night, police said.

Moorhead Police said they received multiple reports around 6:30 p.m. of a vehicle that went off the road before crashing into a fence and a tree. The vehicle then caught fire, trapping the driver inside.

Several witnesses tried to pull the man from the burning vehicle before emergency crews arrived. Firefighters later got him out, but he had suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police said speeding or racing does not appear to have contributed to the crash.

Moorhead Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them through the Red River Regional Dispatch Center. Moorhead Fire, Sanford Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted officers at the scene, according to KFGO, The Mighty 790 KFGO, which first reported the crash.
