At least two people were killed in a shooting at University Plaza, a popular strip mall located just a block from the California State University, Northridge (CSUN) campus in Northridge, Los Angeles.
The shooting broke out just after 11 p.m. on Friday, October 2, according to ABC7 Los Angeles (KABC). Police had been called to the plaza on reports of a large party, and officers already at the scene heard the gunshots.
One person was also stabbed during the chaos, NBC Los Angeles reported.
Dozens of people were detained outside one of the plaza’s buildings after they were found inside a nearby lounge at the time of the shooting, ABC7 reported.
Officers were seen speaking with handcuffed individuals inside a cordoned-off crime scene that spanned several businesses of the plaza, according to aerial video from ABC7.
No arrests have been announced, and officials have not revealed the condition of those injured or released further details. The New York Post has reached out to the LAPD. The investigation is ongoing.
